Warning Notice Regarding Network Solution's New Policy

Recently, we have gotten alarming reports from our customers
regarding domain names that they have just recently search at
Network Solutions turning end up as "taken" when they attempted to register
that same domain name at 123cheapdomains.com.

Upon investigating the matter, we have discovered that Network Solutions
has implemented a logging mechanism on their website that records
customer's searches. Within minutes, domains that were once searched
for become registered at Network Solutions without the customer's consent.
At that point the customer is either left with the option of getting the domain
from Network Solutions at $35/yr, or waiting 4 days for Network Solutions
to delete that domain name and make it available for public registration again.

Please do not search for any domain names from the Network Solution's
official website. Instead, you can safely perform all your searches from this website
with a guarantee from us that we will never record any of your domain searches.

Network Solution is not shy about their new policy either. They have admittingly
posted on their website the following notice:

    Network Solution's Wrote:

In response to customer concerns about domain names being registered by someone else just after they have conducted a domain name search, Network Solutions is implementing a new security measure to protect our customers.

What is the Customer Protection Measure?

Network Solutions may reserve domain names that are searched on our Web site for up to 4 days. During this period, these domain names will only be available to register at networksolutions.com.

    • This customer protection measure may be enabled when a customer searches for an available .com domain name at networksolutions.com but decides not to purchase the name immediately after conducting the search.
      • After the search ends, Network Solutions will put the domain name on reserve. During this reservation period, the name is not active and Network Solutions does not monetize the traffic on these domains.
      • If a customer searches for the domain again during the next 4 days at networksolutions.com the domain will be available to register.
      • If the domain name is not purchased within 4 days, it will be released back to the registry and will be available for registration through any registrar.
      • Domain names searched on the WHOIS search page will NOT be reserved.
    • This protection measure provides our customers the opportunity to register domains they have previously searched without the fear that the name will be already taken through Front Running.
    • By holding the searched domains at Network Solutions for a short period, it allows our customers to take the time to decide whether this is the domain name that they really want to register.

From reading the above notice, it does not take very long for consumers
to figure out that Network Solutions is diguising their new policy under the pretense
that it is protecting the consumer. Instead, it creates a worse situation where
consumers are unknowningly stuck with accepting a forced registration
at Network Solutions at $35/yr for fear of losing that name after
    the 4 day deletion period.

Just imagine if you went to Network Solutions, and did a domain name
availability search. The domain says "available", but when you go back later
to register it at 123cheapdomains minutes later, you now see that same
domain as being taken. You later find out that Network Solutions
registered your domain simply because you did one search on their website.
You have never asked them to reserve the domain. Later, Network Solutions
tells you that you have to pay $35/yr if you want that name, otherwise, they
will delete it within 4 days. Since that domain is important to you, and you do
not want to risk losing it 4 days later, you comply with finalizing the
registration at $35/yr. You are upset with Network Solutions, but can't do much
about this. This is exactly the kind of experience our customer's have reported
to us recently. Hopefully, this warning here will prevent someone from going
    through this similiar problem.
